Big SBC roots type supercharger?

Post by pdq67 » Fri Apr 05, 2019 2:17 pm

Who makes it, I forget?

About a 191 or so??

I would really like a 250 or 256 SBC supercharger, but don't think they are made now if they ever was?

Blower shop has low profile 192 kit sbc, 250 low profile kit bbc. Seems like 671 or even 871 sbc kits you would not be turning the blower silly rpm to get anything out of the blower.

"The Blower Shop" TBS has that 192 blower. No 250 blower for SBC. You can still buy the B&M 250 Power Charger used/rebuilt. from the big places that service-rebuild roots blowers. Marine etc.

The 256 blower is a big block blower . There is no manifold made for this and a sbc, never was. BBC only
Any shop that rebuilds merc off shore motors.
For the sbc B&M 250 Power Charger contact Dyers, or TBS or BDS.. (Rebuilt/2nd hand only.)
You have to contact these directly to see who has.
Anything that is/was on a Merccruiser Racing boat motor Will be Big Bucks$$$$.

The TBS 192 blower and the Weiand 177 are both 650+ horse capable which is enough to split a GM sbc block in 2...
The 256 does not fit a sbc. BBC only...
The 192 (sbc TBS) looks and is plenty big . there is a dual carb adapter too(non holley).

Semi "underhood" blower (needs 3" cowl induction hood)
The Edelbrock/Eaton/Magnuson MP122HH ("helix" supercharger is very efficient, and makes big power on a healthy sbc . 500++ up to 600 with water/meth inj.
Edelbrock sells this as E-Force 122
The new Edelbrock 800 cfm AVS2 carb is a great carb on this lil blower #1912, #1913.

The TBS 192 sbc blower is a better and more powerfull supercharger than the 250 power charger is.
The straight long 2 lobe rotors limit the max perf on
The old B&M 250 Power Charger. Has not been in production in many years.
It is not low. Does not fit underhood. Short water pump only.
You only save 1" vs a 6-71 blower on a sbc.

IMHO I think you'd really enjoy the TorQStorm blower on your lil 325 sbc, in your Camaro.

https://www.partsforspeed.com/blower-sh ... rolet.html

This TBS 192 blower + carb package includes a 850 holley blower carb.
The pic is of the short water pump kit version with 16 rib belt. The long water pump version uses a different 10 rib belt drive. Standard pulleys are 3.10" x 6.4" 2.06:1 ratio.
Plenty for your 325 sbc.
You need a low compression ratio for street pump gas.
This will do sick things to your 325 sbc with even modest boost.
Can also fit 2x4 afb style carbs on a adapter for maxed out performance. Does not fit underhood of a stock Camaro. Plan on a 3+" cowl hood.

This has the lowest total height including carb and air cleaner of any of the "big blowers" but is not under hood on any Camaro.

I have to ask is all!!

What ever happened to the K/F extruded blowers line?

Oh, and btw, my 325" SBC engine is going to be built at 10 to 1 or a skosh higher!

I already have the parts in my bedroom!

And if I still want real, "old-school", I have a new in the box 300-36 Holly intake and repop 2.5" ramshorn exhaust manifolds!!

If you build that 325" sbc with flat top pistons (0 deck the block)
You could then use a set of 56cc chamber cylinder heads on it to get a N/A friendly 10.5:1 cr.
Then if you swapped for another cylinder head with a 76cc chamber. You'd have a street blower friendly 8.4:1 cr. Just right for boost on pump gas.
On the 325 you'll find the available smaller blowers (142,144,177,mp122H, 192…) ALL have plenty of bite. Very street friendly on your 67 Camaro with just a hood swap. Any, all these will do crazy things to a street 325cid sbc.
Now you can have it both ways.
IMHO the recent Edelbrock/Magnuson/Eaton design MP122HH modern lil blower is very cool for your car.
The rotor shape and airflow path makes it more efficient
than the size suggests. On your 325, it will rock.
With this you can really beat upnon them stroker motors.
PS, the lil blower also just AMPLIFIES the high reving nature of a big bore/short stroke SBC.
You will get (a lot more) more of what you are looking for

Eddy/Magnuson/eaton Mp122hh best most advanced
Supercharger design great power... 550. 600 hp capable. Relief bypass valve adds efficientcy at cruise.

Best eye candy by far:
Best looks TBS 192 billet supercharger w custom dual carb adapter added. Great polished billet looks big power HD drive system.

Weiand 177 bigger more power a bit higher.
650 hp capable high boost.
Better 10 rib drive. Bottom pulley swap expensive

142 little cute blower cool for 460 hp.
But a lot of fun where 460 hp limit is fine.

6 rib st drive. Must upgrade for high boost 10 rib.

Which one you like?
All require a hood scoop or big cowl induction hood.
Or hole in hood with shaker scoop. On your Camaro.
None fit under stock flat hood.

All want a big carb 750+++++ or 2X4 bigger is better when big boost...

All add big real torque boost to any street engine
Right where you want it on a street motor.
All get real good with water/methanol added for intercooling. More boost more timing more power.
More reliability less detonation, less hot soak back to back hot blower case power loss.
All will also increase the rev abiliy of your lil 325 sbc.
It will pull hard and keep pulling. Basicly amplifies what you got.

All make enough real deal power and torque to burn off many sets of street tires, eat driveshafts U joints, test the durabikity of a stock trans or rear axle.
Any of this stuff in poor condition may/will fail.
Once you have driven a supercharged street car you eill never be happy again with N/A....
All will drive home if the blower drive belt breaks.
Some of the blower belts can be found in the Gates belt catalog... Cheaper.....

For you and your purpose, I kinda like the Edelbrock E Force Mp 122HH blower for your Camaro.
It will drive nice, and be VERY powerfull on your lil solid cammed 325 sbc. You can hide it under a cowl hood or have a scoop poke thru the hood a bit.
It is a modern efficient street blower.
Has been shown to make 600 hp.
You will make 500++ hp on your lil 325.
You need not run it on kill. 5-6-7 psi boost
Makes tons of reliable supercharged power.

Might want to trade out that 108 lsa cam for a similar 110-114 LSA cam. It will run good with that cam but may not be ideal... There are tons of great affordable off the shelf blower friendly cams..... Will need a method of boost retard.
Can be simple mechanical (modified vacuum advance) or a electronic boost/timing retard box.
