427 SBC carb question

Post by prairiehotrodder »

Helping a friend with a build :

427 SBC with AFR 227 heads, Jesel shaft rockers, comp 12-863-9 TK solid roller, 12.5 CR

My question is this : He has no carb and may want to change intake. The motor was a 11-1 383 but now is becoming a 12.5 CR 427. I'm thinking a 1050 dominator would be good carb for this combo but I have a new 1150. Would there be any downside to the 1150 ? The car is a drag race only, 3000 pound 78 Lemans with 4.56 gears and a 5500 stall. I know i could just "try it" but its brand new and i don't want to do that unless it would actually work good for him. I've been trying to sell it in the For Sale section but no takers.

I run a 1050 on a 427 sbc and have dynoed with 1350 and made more HP; so i don't see a 1150 being too large .
