Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
Lol a typical thirdgen fbody is 3350-3500 lb with driver if near stock
If its anywhere near 280-300 whp it will be well into the 12’s at 108-110 if it has a converter and can launch 1.6-1.7 60 foots

Unless extensively lightened a 3rd gen with driver is 3500# ++. Mine was 3530# w driver. (No a/c)
Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
Depends on which one and what options. My full optioned leather power everything ac iroc was 3450 with me in it but i was only 150 lbs then lol
It was also 3450 with drag wheels an 8 pt bar, light carpet and alum head 383 sbc.
My cloth 91 z28 felt lighter. Power windows locks but manual seats. Stock 305 on 9 psi trapped 110 mph. Was 280-300 whp and no more. My 99 trans am at 3630 with me in it went 108 mph and 12.50’s with 308 whp

I just flowed the Dual plane 52026 Crosswind intake that was on the engine for Dyno with a 4779.
1)211 3)190 5)195 7)208 Dual plane
1)190 3)194 5)192 7)194 Complete TPI
Also i did a quick Air Speed check on the TPI
Head FT/SEC 300 Lower 250 Upper Runners 245
I don't think the TPI will hurt much in RPMS on this small engine that peaked at 5400 with a carb.
What do you guys think in HP 20??

I was looking at the wrong notes...
The complete TPI system flows 206 CFM.
Dual plane average 201 CFM

This thread is awesome. Old School, love it.
Charlie as you know I just did the 113's and a mini-ram for my 3rd Gen. It was a lot of work and part of me wishes I would have went with an aftermarket head. It runs well, just want more!

Re: Ported Chevy 083 heads, the tpi project
I put a mini-ram on mine and pushed the factory ECM as far as I though I could. The mini-ram took some work getting it happy. Had to change rear gears, really loose converter, and new 4L60 trans (which isn't in yet). With a basically stock 700R4 and just a JR kit and LW governor, it shifts at 6400. Needs more so I had a new LW internal trans built.

This is the stock trans. It accelerates "OK", but it's going to be better here soon.
