Thanks Warp.
Be it valve jobs, or this type of deal, it is amazing how combinations and usage that are so far apart, still respond the same. Engine combos change, but the physics involved don't.
MOO to that!

I wonder if having other belts on the front of the crank would calm some of that down a little ??

Like vacuum pump belt or alternator belt.

It could. A 7in damper would typically have the biggest effect.
Externally balanced?

When I had a Mercedes diesel they had a much better damping unit for the serpentine belt over the petrol versions. If there is a way to tension the belts with a gas/hydraulic piston to dissipate the torsional oscillations via heat rejection (ala a crank damper) that might be beneficial at the expense of bracketry and complexity.

No, internal balance.

What about damper weight? Is their specific incidences that require running say a steel vs aluminum 7" or vice versa?

There is a 2017 thread on this -- viewtopic.php?t=50310

The Mopar unit was found on the 1.6 VW engines used in the Omni/Horizon (I had one). The EPA made them replace it because of failures in service with a solid aluminum unit.

Side draft Weber and Solex carbs had some similar ones from Renault in their Alpine/Gordini (also used in Matra Djet). Lessor quality units used O-rings and plastic carriers.

Good question.
I have 3 inertia ring 7" ati on my 421, 3.875 stroke. Wonder if there is a better one ?

Ask them if they sell the elastomeric rings in different durometer ratings.

Better pic of the plug after the dyno session of the 383.
Got it started on Thursday on old plugs and made 3 breakin pulls, then Friday morning it got a look over and new plugs.
That plug has all the pulls made on Friday on it. (16 pulls)

I believe they do. They've told me to send one back for different durometer if we start operating the engine in a different rpm than it originally started out at.

Much better picture. How wide is the fuel ring?

My plug reading consists of looking for signs of detonation and contact with the piston.

I figure if it's going to the dyno I'll let it tell me fuel and timing requirments.

But, looking down in the plug I can't really see one. I haven't cut one apart yet.
