Question for CAMSHAFT experts

Post by swampbuggy »

OBJECTIVE is to calculate (figure) the MAXIMUM lobe lift for a given base-circle diameter on a given core diameter. Would this be the correct way to do this (or) did i miss something ? (core diameter) 55mm 2.167" minus 1.275" base-circle = .892" divided by 2 = .446" Max. lobe lift (lifter rise) and be able to get camshaft through cam bearings to install it. Mark H. :?: Thanks for any responses.

Correct.
Journal diameter minus twice the lobe lift equals larges base circle diameter that will fit
or
Journal diameter minus base circle diameter equals twice the max lobe lift that will fit.
