Distributor gear and cam advance for roller cam swap 351w

Post by travis »

I’m putting a set of mildly ported E7TE heads and a stock 5.0HO roller cam in a speed density 351W in a ‘89 F-150. Will any aftermarket steel distributor gear work, or one of the melonized aftermarket gears (with the right shaft size of course)? Also, this cam measured 214/211@.050, 115 lsa and about a 115.5* ICL. Will the stock speed density system handle it being installed 4* advanced (or more)? Would this be beneficial in this situation?

This is an E4OD/3.08 geared truck. The only other mods is a set of long tube 1.5” headers, and a 3” single exhaust with no cats
