Cylinder honing basics

I have one customer that freshens a stable of motors regularly. These are blocks I've sleeved so the have zero wear on them when I see them. I hone them with the much maligned dingleberry hone (400 grit) and get perfect profilometer numbers. I run the hone backwards for 10 strokes, then 10 strokes normally. Even though they seem on the mickey mouse side, they are actually effective for "surface conditioning".

Have realistic goals for the non typical environment ! But it's allot of work to not go back with it correct
