Art,
i have used the composite gear for a few years now and am really happy with it,i also use a composite fuel pump pushrod with a holley 200gph mechanical pump,it is just starting to show slight wear but not bad at all.street/strip deal

It depends on what the cam is made of. Being a solid roller doesn't guarantee it's one certain material. Though it's said that a composite gear can be used with a cast iron, ductile iron, or billet steel core. I haven't used one on all 3 cores so I really can't say.

Lunati has a gear called "Everwear". I ran one on a billet roller cam for a long time with zero issues. Should give you excellent life without the wear issues of a bronze gear.

Art,
The correct answer is to call the cam manufacturer and ask them. A lot of the cams now days are made with a pressed on gear and back bearing and can use a completely stock distributor gear. I would not take a chance on guessing. Call the manufacturer and ask them.

It's an option I've gone with on several Jones solid rollers. All good so far.

Yes with the cast gear option you can run any distributor gear. With the billet the gm MELONIZED or other everlast gears are a must and will hardly ware.
