Your link is for pneumatic valves, not cam dampers.
We ran cam dampers in Indy Car in the 90's. It's nothing new.
The pics of the pneumatic valves reminded me, of a company that was trying to sell a retro-fit pneumatic valve system for American V8 race engines, about 20 years ago. They made the system about the same size as a 1.550" diameter valve spring, so it would fit on most aftermarket race heads. Don't know what ever happened to them.

I'd assume, rulesmakers saying things about metal valve springs happened to them.

Does make me wonder how well that would work on a pushrod OHV engine though.

The things Honda did to reduce TV in cams is well documented in one of their papers and is fascinating.
