Crank spun nicely after install , rings file fit to .016 on a 4.03 bore.. I just attributed it to the 4" crank.
Was that breakaway torque or continuous? I thought my 4.450" x 4.00" BBC, at 25-35# continuous with standard tension 1/16" -1/16" - 3/16" rings was on the high side but from what I've read since I guess it's OK. You are using a beam-type wrench I assume?

It's not too far off from what I think it needs. Close IN. valve a little earlier and open ex valve a little earlier, add lift.

Found a number faintly etched in the top. 5011h3 It's a weisco piston.
Heavy, 765 gram for just the piston. 157 for the pin.

Install liners in guides for 11/32 valves or 5/16 if they make a valve like you need. Would add a lot to the life of the springs, and some rpm to the motor.

So advance the cam and put more rocker on it. Lol...problem solved ha ha

Problem with that idea is, half a set of Jesels is more than a cam.

Checkin some springs last night. 1.640" springs. 200-210 seat and 570-580 open at .725" lift.

Seems kinda weak for a 157 gram valve, an RX lobe and 1.7 rocker and any real rpm.

I would say your right about that, i didnt know they made springs in that diameter with light pressure like that, last set of 1.64 springs i used were 245 seat 750 open @.73 lift, but that was with an 88 gram 2.08 in valve and 9700 rpm :D

If that Wiseco piston and pin weight is really legit, then a standard forged Eagle crank and a inexpensive kit rod offering may have a real problem getting to 9000rpms in one piece!

That's a tank of a piston/pin combo for a 9000 rpm BBC! Can you afford a whole new backup engine? If not build this engine a little better and STRONGER! JMO

It's not my engine, so it's not my budget.
It's a customer I guess you could say,
Not an international customer, :( but just a local puller we know.

Not sure it will go to 9000 rpm. We'll see what the budget ends up being.

It will get different springs for sure.

Not sure about this engine. Supposed to have 30 hooks on it in a truck from Nebraska but some of the things I'm seeing don't add up to that.
Maybe they just didn't spin it that hard. A high gear and it wouldn't pull it maybe ?

There is a phenomenon in the Hunting world I would like to explain to you. Its called Ground shrinkage. Its when your buddy shoots a hell of a buck, huge horns, probably at least 12 points and it runs off into the forest. Once it dies and the horns touch the earths surface, the actual ground or soil causes them to shrink in size so by the time you both track the deer down and find it, they are considerably smaller than the deer that your buddy has described. Probably something similar is happening with the engine you are working on, the actual horsepower or pull results are somehow askew from what the engine was advertised.

Seen that before.
Things not as they are presented.

Guess we'll do the best we can within the budget from this point on.

It's as simple in pulling as it is in racing, "Power costs Money, How far do you want to Pull!"
