I never had a problem braking in an engine. I always here about rings that didn't seat because they had no load. I always have the timing set before I try to start. I don't do the drop it in and turn it until it starts. I seen a few cars and a house burn down from that. It's too close to the ground to put a prop on it. But my 1st job out of college was at a prop shop. We cut down and repitched several unrepairable props down to make air boat props. The neighbors tolerate me running open headers on the test stand at reasonable throttle. That might change in a big hurry if I hung a prop on it but it would be a way of dealing with leaves. I don't want blow all the leaves over to the nuns that live behind me.
