With a 1400 rpm cruise .
I'm not everybody, just someone that likes to make things run a little better with stock/junk stuff. =D>

On a side note, do you have a combo that gets 30mpg, makes 500 plus hp with the A/C on? Please share with us, always trying to learn.
Yes, and it has a tunnel ram with dual quadrajets on it.

I have reworked several sets of 906 and 062. Many are cracked. Ive probably got 20 heads in here that are cracked. But those that are not cracked can be made to run pretty well. Ive not found anything in more than 2 X 1.55 valves. Normally 1.6 on intake will help. Keep headers around 1 5/8. Any thing larger just waste of space in the vehicle. Dual plane intake suited to the build works better than a single plane. Spend time on cam selection and build for mid range power and let tope end fall where it does. But it will run freaking good for the money.

A tunnel ram on your vortec headed 406 would work very well. There are a few ways to skin that cat. (Requires a bit of custom fab/ mods to existing off the shelf stuff.)
On that I would use 2 650 AVS2 eddy carbs.

The 2x Qjets are for on a racey single plane manifold, on a 2x4 adapter, Only 6 of the 8 venturii are exposed to the plenum. On that, the outboard front primaries are disabied and blocked off. Some 1300+ cfm @1.5" yet fully adjustable air flow and throttle rate and fuel curve progression..

A variation of that is to use 2 650 AVS2 EDDY CARBS on a vortec single plane, on a 2x4 to single carb adapter.
All have 500++ hp potential along with good streetability.

And either set-up would get it's ass handed to it on the dyno and drivability by a good 4500 style 1050 on a simple 4150-4500 adapter.

500hp small block.... probably both the 2 carb set ups and the 1050 would gets its ass handed to them with a properly tuned and set up 750HP double pumper. I'm sorry they both seem overkill for a mild small port head small block. Maybe the 1050 if we were talking about shifting at 9k...5500 to 6000rpm its just not needed.

Unless I'm missing the boat, I haven't seen big gains on those heads other than a few CFM from the bowl, guide and SSR clean up. Don't seem to have any sweet spots where they make me smile.

They are great for a budget 450 hp build, larger valves will work but you better know what your doing with the grinder. And a little thin to boot.

Seems to me that with either the 062 casting or the 906 in stock form that if you run a Cam of .550" lift and your comp is 9.5 you should make 450 hp with no fuss!
