Charliesauto....that Bosch alternator at $2,500.00 is one more reason it cost a small fortune to build a competitive NASCAR engine. Mark H

I believe many of the teams of switched to an alternator manufactured by McLaren, not sure what kind of price those are.swampbuggy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 17, 2018 10:02 pm Charliesauto....that Bosch alternator at $2,500.00 is one more reason it cost a small fortune to build a competitive NASCAR engine. What was the purpose of the dyno test? I simple test to get a torque / HP curve should take less than 10 seconds. With the programming that can be done a longer test could be minutes, hours, or days.swampbuggy wrote: ↑Sun Sep 16, 2018 10:29 pm Warpspeed, is that similar to a pull you guys would do at HMS ? What i am wondering mostly IS, would the pull be that slow and long ??? Also, is that way of pulling an engine typical of an inertia dyno ??? Thanks Mark H.
Stan
This is s dyno test from the Carb Challenge which was done on the BLP inertia dyno.

Is that engine STD. Or optional in the Camry?

It's a Prius engine, with the optional 9 volt conversion. Seriously though, I enjoyed watching the video.

Re: GREAT NASCAR V-8 dyno video
How is the blow by figure calculated/measured? If we have a figure on a fresh engine dyno run, then a 500 mile race and dyno it again how much difference would we see? Is there a certain percentage from a fresh build that signals a significant performance drop?
