not guess the hp but guess the ET??

Post by AMXstocker1 »

We have a new combination that lacks 2 an lines from being done and it will be tested next weekend this coming weekend so i thought i'd post specs and pics and see if anyone wanted to guess et and mph and i might send the closest person a hat or something small who knows but heres the combo

1969 AMC AMX

3160lbs
mopar 8 3/4 with spool and 4.56 gear
28x10.5 mickey thompson pro bracket radial
727 torqueflight with a brake and 8 inch a 6400 rpm converter
aerospace brakes on all 4 (probably no difference)
Calvert monoleafs and bars and single adjustable shocks on rear
double adjustable vikings on the front with limiters this will take a bit of dialing in
engine
418ci 4.185x3.800 with 6.125 rod
indy heads filled to just under 230ccs and angle milled 54cc chamber
flow 328 @ .700 and at 300 by .500
15.5 to 1 compressing
Herman lewis intake and a 950cfm 4150 on e85
cam is a solid roller
lift is .773 intake and .745 exh
dur @ .050 273int and 287exh
lobe center is 110.0 and installed at 108.0
headers are custom 1 7/8s to 2inch stepped with a megaphone style merge collector that go down to 2.75inchs and open back to 3.5inch
motor is nuetral balanced
aerospace vacuum pump we plan on setting at 12inchs.

i think that rounds it out.

i guess i'll mention the last motor in the car went 6.75 at 101.00
and it was a 9.5 to 1 433 inch motor with lightly breathed on indy heads that flowed 290
and .608 lift solid flat tappet that was 257 and 264 @.050 on a 108 lob center. with some 1 7/8ths hooker headers

Who spect out your cam? Way too much exhaust duration in my opinion.

It went 1.43 with the last motor and it will see 1/4 mile action too the last motor only did once and it went 10.89 coasting through because too much gear for the little streetmotor that was also the first pass on that engine. But if it runs close to your guess's ill be real happy and your about where i am on guesstimates.

I think it's going to run... It should hit the tires alot harder and I'm willing to bet you will see a 1.3x 60'.

I too wonder about the exhaust duration.... Seems a bit excessive.

I'll take a guess...

First pass off the trailer... 6.43 at 107 and change.

By the end of the day... 6.37 at 108 and change.

You might not like this... I would swap in a Glide.. you are getting into the world where you will have too much SLR... It will want to stand on the bumper or blow the tires off depending on front end travel

In my 304" 2V Mod motor 96 mustang when we're running 6.0's -5.90's we swapped out the C4 trans for a Glide with a Greg Slacks converter and we picked up a tenth and a half!!!! The car was waaay more consistent because it calmed it down off of the hit.

Im not against a glide its just not in the budget at the moment, od really like to put a 2.10 gear set on 727 from protrans but its going to take some time we might try to pull sometiming off the hit but first well see of we can make the chassis work.

Amc fan thats a nice setup we run a local headsup class that requires a 230cc or less intake runner and a 950cfm carb. If the class goes away we will send the heads back and have the epoxy knocked out and they should be in your neighborhood after that. I like your cam specs i wouldve went more lift and these heads are so good on the exhaust side i question the big exhaust duration but it s a father son project and he want to let adkins spec the cam.
