Head Gasket Retorque

Re: Head Gasket Retorque
Geoff2 is on the money. When torqueing you create a seal, loosening to retorque breaks the seal only to seal it again. It is most important to take time, do it in many steps and prep surfaces for proper RA for whatever gasket you use and straightness. Prep work and correct torque values is key!
Re: Head Gasket Retorque
There is quite a split of opinion on this- I just went through it a month ago. The .051 GMPP gaskets I used could use a retorque likely but the r rockers and headers make a big job bigger and such a pita that best practices are relaxed in this this case.
Re: Head Gasket Retorque
One alternative would be to retorque a few accessible fasteners and then judge whether doing them all is worth the effort.
