Camshaft to housing clearance

Post by John@RED »

Hi, which is the rule of thumb talking about the camshaft to housing clearance for DOHC engines with aluminum caps and no bearings?
Is 0.001-0.0011 per diameter still ok? Thanks

.004" is what I usually see as a wear limit, usually they're in the .002" range when new and they only gain clearance when crap goes through the oil.

I'd say that would be a reasonable minimum.
