I only had one of the two gear BBs come through the shop. As I recall it came out of a dump truck or some Ag machine.
All the pickups or cars that came through had chains.

No, it and a bunch more new parts are still sitting in the corner of my bedroom. I'm hoping to make a short-stroke 8,000 rpm, 325" engine before I die I have two 400 SBC blocks.

Have everything except a set of gaskets, a steel balancer and a steel flywheel.. Oh, and a timing chain set and a new oil pump...

Might as well go all the way and install Hilborn fuel injection, Joe Hunt magneto, etc.

The 366 BBC truck engine had a two gear cam drive, reverse rotation stock cam, and 4 ring pistons, plus the .400" taller deck. And very thick cylinder walls and 4 bolt mains. I thought it would make a good blower engine when I first saw one. Bore on 366 was about 3 15/16", which I think is about 100mm. Slight .060"+ overbore and you could use all available 4" bore ring packages. Had forged cranks.

3.935" bore. And I think, maybe 4-bolt mains??

Sonic check one and see if it won't bore to 4.250"s?? Some way early 396's will.

Most racers I know have gone to belt drives now. I use a Jessel.

For a long time If you have any kind of raised cam belt drives are the only recourse.

What I would really like to have is a good '64 or '65 Rochester MFI, say that Jack Podell has worked over so it WORK's like GM meant for it to work back then.

Best looking engines chevy made were the high rise 1967 trypower 427, 64/65 mfi sbc, 302 with cross ram. All the rest of them just look like belly button engines, everyone has one. Im going to use my offy low profile cross ram, manifold exact copy of chevy cross ram have ground off the ugly big offenhauser lettering on the front and back. I believe it will be a good runner in the 4500 to 8000 range. I bought a 69 low profile try power put it on my 454 liked it a lot better then the tarantula and 850 dp that i had on it.

Not the worst manifold. But definitely a Top Five contender.

just have to point out to anyone fretting over the reliability of a 2 gear over a 3 gear drive.
a sprint car uses a 3 gear drive, and runs 4 or 5 stage dry sump pumps off the front, a magneto, a power steering pump and fuel pump, off of the rear. On top of that they are running springs with 250 + on the seat and at least 750 over the nose. Nobody has any problems with their gear drives.

Lots of better ones but not top five bad. Considered an brodix hv 1002 with a small 750 holley dominator.

I ran a Sprint car with all that. Zero issues. Summers Bros gear drive in mine.

What timing set you choose depends on what you are building.
Are you building something or just throwing stuff out to see what sticks?
Any relation to PDQ?
