Owie! That hurts looking at.. Looking at the rod, did it loose a valve or what happened?

Friend of mine did that on a Mazda 1.8 engine. The #1 rod sawed through both sides of the block as well as the main cap girdle, pickup tube, and oil pan. Engine was still running after it happened although it was a little rough :)

The interesting thing is, when he went to sell the remaining three rods and pistons, it turned out the other three were also bent. The chunk of rod still on the #1 journal would spin freely although it could not be removed because the nuts/bolt ends were too beat up.

Way to much NOS,that rod knock the hell out that block,I had a rod break off around that area but it did nothing to block I had a crank scraper and it was only bent upwards.

Circle track engine. No power adders. Had head repaired on that cylinder, I think weld leaked. Hydraulic. Boom. Sucks either way
