If your car vibrates more than you think it should, you may have one of the driveshafts made with the yokes not lined up properly. Since the stock engine and rear ends are not mounted in the same planes, someone decided the solution was to offset the yolks. Lower rear gears made the vibrations much worse. Since I have no idea of what has been done to your car, thought I'd give you a heads up on this occurring. Thank Smokey for this info.

Thanks all for the constructive comments and kind words!

Kirkwoodken, good tip! Fortunately she runs very smooth even with the 4.56 gears. We sure can thank Smokey for several things. He was very approachable when he was with us. The original owner had several conversations with him concerning the SY intake and setting up the carb correctly and kept good notes.

Heads are GM slant plug “492” #336746.
Should I expect best results with less total, say 34* with the slant plug heads?
I think that the, "vintage correct", cam should be the old -140 AND maybe the -754 so go from there OR call Mike and flat ask him where to baseline his cam in your engine combination!

Sorry, try this??

As always, just trying to help...

Back years ago on Team Camaro, there was a guy that raced 1st Gen. 302's and such. I forget his handle or his name but I think that it was either Gene or Dave??

Anyway, he flat knew his shit from doing it.

You might want to look him up and talk to him.... if you want to take the time..
