2001 Land Rover 4Lt V8

Post by ProPower engines »

Hey guys
Anyone here have a good source for 4Lt V8 land rover engine parts??
I have a customer with a loose sleeve making noise and want to rebuild the complete engine not reuse whats there
but don't want to have to get parts from the UK and wait forever [-X [-X
The local dealer says 12 week wait from UK for basic parts like pistons and bearings etc

Any suggestions or leads will be gratefully appreciated :D

Try Woody Cooper at the Wedge Shop:

or D&D Fabrications:

http://aluminumv8.com/

Also, Ted at TSI:

Melling makes a flanged sleeve for them, I put a set of 8 in one last week. It had lots of miles but the pistons were like new, we re-used them.

Thanks guys for the leads.
It turns out this is a 4.6 Lt but they need the same repair. #-o
The Britpart sleeves are made for them by LA sleeve but I had not checked out Melling yet but will tomorrow at LS sleeve is about 3-4 weeks for delivery as they are out of stock at this time.
I have the Britpart sleeve dimensions so I will inquire about the Melling offerings

Thanks again

This last block I did is a 4.6 also, I don't think there's any difference between them. The OE sleeve is approx 3.825" o.d. Sometimes the OE sleeves will knock out if you heat the block to about 200 degrees. Or I rough bore the first cut at 3.850". but stop 3/8" from the sleeve bottom because it'll break free. I just tap that short piece out after. The Melling sleeve is 3.904", give or take a thou or 2.
