10 4...it's all good man. A N-A small block built to the MAX. (and) a N-A big block built to the MAX. will produce really close to the same H.P. per cubic inch. What has to be remembered is the bigger the engine is......the MORE friction there is to be overcome. Mark H.

The problem I had with the 396/402 engines was trying to get the compression up. Most of the better factory offerings had 115-118 cc chambers requiring a heavy huge dome. piston. A generic flat top 400 sbc with 64 cc heads comes out near 11:1.
So much to do, so little time...

Yep, the latter being a much better setup. My current build will be appx. 14.5 to 1 with flat tops with two valve notches, this will be possible only because of the chambers on these heads. Mark H.
