Sparkplugs for street high performance?

Post by 427dart »

I have been using Autolite 3924 for years in my aluminum head 351's and now my 427W Ford type engines.

Any difference among the other similar type plugs?

There are many different reasons for using different type spark plugs. Power is only one of them.

Personally, I like to use an irridium fine wire spark plug in an engine which sees a lot of time on the street.
Don't foul as easy
Is does not rely on a good mixture content to ignite
Takes less electrical power to get them to give a good spark; especially in the cold.
Usually last quite a bit longer

The biggest bad side is they cost quite a bit more money initially.

I was looking at the Autolite XP3924 and might give those a try.

I've run 3924's and NGK FR5 in sbf for many years. Both are good. I slightly favor the NGK

The specific ones I use for an application similar to that are resistor ... NGK 2667 (BKR7EIX)
