Cold valve lash with Jones solid roller
What is the baseline rule of thumb for setting the valve lash cold on my aluminum headed sbc? The hot lash for the Jones solid roller is in. .016 ex. .020.
Re: Cold valve lash with Jones solid roller
I don't do a lot of Chevy stuff, but my cast iron block/aluminum headed SBF's and FE's want .006" tighter cold lash. All-aluminum is usually .015" tighter cold.

Thanks! It seems I was told a couple years ago to go .004 tighter then the hot setting which is printed on the cam card. Also, it seems .008 rings a bell....
Re: Cold valve lash with Jones solid roller
Go .006"-008" tighter for break-in.
With the engine at running temp, shut it off, and set the valves on one cylinder to the Hot lash on the card.
Let the engine fully cool down.
Measure the lash on that cylinder that you set hot.
That will be the cold lash setting to use on all the cylinders.
