Engine simulation programs ??

Post by Turbo231 »

I am looking to purchase an engine simulation program and am soliciting recommendations. What is your favorite and why? Thanks.

I like dynomation. It does a good job and is pretty easy to use for most things.

I have dynomation. Just make sure you feed it with lots of known data for best results. I use pipemax to bounce against. I use Jones cam selector to help as another source. Actually I believe pipemax and Jones have teamed up now....

Do these programs allow the user to choose metric or imperial units?

DM let's you switch back and forth so you can enter bore in inches, valves in mm or whatever.

I have PM and DM. I used to use PM to get an idea of header size to start with, but DM6 gives me that info so I never bothered to re-register my PM licence on my newer computers.

Has anyone run the same engine setup through multiple simulation programs and compared results? I know in other fields of science, which use some type of simulation, they might take an average from several programs to get closer to the real answer.

Its funny because the couple people I know with both engmod and DM say they do most of their work on DM because it's much quicker to setup and has automated iterations. Then once they have everything DM can deliver they may plug it into engmod if there are additional questions DM doesn'tanswer....but that's second hand so....
