Need help locating new (or even good used) cam core for an all-aluminum AMC block.
Am contemplating getting into a build with one of these units, have most of the components here already.
Have tried some of the larger cam companies, no help so far, have left message with Indy but they haven't got back to me yet!
Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. Would mention also core needs to be based on the 55mm platform.

They are who we get our custom BBmopar cams from. They seem the most willing of all the cam suppliers to do uncommon stuff.
AMC is in the odd ball league for a fancy cam type but it is right up their alley

Re: Indy AMC Aluminum Block-Cam Core
Would like to thank everyone here for the help on this one, so far it look's like we'll be building an all aluminum AMC, it's a "first" for me, at least in aluminum!!
Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. We MAY "shrink" the 55mm cam bores back to "standard" (not decided yet), will ease the cam core situation some?

Herman Lewis in Beckly WV was a good source on AMC stuff. I know he had at least one of those blocks. I'm sure you probably already know that. A.H. Adkins is another AMC guru.also in WV as I recall.

Re: Indy AMC Aluminum Block-Cam Core
call comp and talk to Tim Cole. have a friend who recently purchased a tool steal cam core from them.

Tim Cole retired from Comp Cams in December 2017.
I use 55mm cam cores in my AMC 390. It is a standard cast-iron production block. I get my cams through:
Spiro Jennings
Red Line Racing Cams

Unit C
San Jose, CA 95116
Ph: 408-292-0646
He designs and machines his cams at his shop. I know of NHRA Stock, Super Stock, Comp and Pro-Stock (car and MC) that run his cams successfully but often time the racer keeps it under wraps. Although there are no guarantee’s in racing, I can tell you it’s likely you will get one of Spiro’s cams and two things will happen; 1) you won’t be wanting for more, and 2) your valve train will be very happy.
