My shop is currently in the middle of a rebuild on the 289 for one of the extremely rare 1966 race mustang coupes built by shelby. The heads are stamped "ported by valley head service canoga park. calif." The intake seats are 30* on this set. The other 3 sets we have done over the years have always been 45*.

There could be another reason for modding the manifold rather than using a spacer such as height or looks etc.
Yep, no spacer originally & this one is to externally look 100% stock.

Bill ,
That was "the thinking" back then by some of the Ford camp. The original C6FE GT40 heads ( that replaced the ported R Model head) had 1.875 intakes with a 30* seat. The Le Mans cam they ran was only .520 lift. They were all about low lift flow LOL. Most guys update them to 45* on the first refresh. Valley and Mondello were by far the two most popular porters SAI used. They tried everybody here in the So Cal area at least once looking for the best. I've seen them from Lockerman, Slover, and Fudge.

Motor has been finished for a couple of weeks, just waiting on the blower!
Was supposed to be here this week, looks doubtfull.

I'll call you later today Craig - my apprentice has been off work for a month now & I'm seriously backed up in workload, I need a guy that can help finish a few engines & free me up some time to port some heads!

Mid nov - that early?
Must be nice only being only 3 months off catching up!

I just put on a new casual worker this week, good lad, seems likely to do well in the trade.

Good that you've found a decent seeming casual lad, unfortunately hard to find, lets hope he sticks with it mate.

What's a casual worker if you don't mind educating this American? Just curious. :)

A casual/part time worker. Someone who is not employed full time ie, on a fixed daily basis, like 8am till 5pm 5 days per week.
The casual/part time worker might work say 3 particulay days, or 5 one week 2 the next on an 'as required' basis.
Im sure you guys have a terminology to fit this type of employee ?

Thanks! Yes, I think we would call them a part-time worker or a maybe a temp. I had just never heard that term before.

Ah yes we use the term Temp here too but it seems to be more used on the retail/clerical fields.

Hey Craig,
Maybe the US guys were thinking
CASUAL ie -
Layed back
Not in a hurry
Just cruising
Nearly to the point of taking the piss, lol
All jokes aside, sounds like Tony and yourself are very busy and that's good because it can always go the other way and have no work, then no Mon for fun.
