Re: Saturday LT1 airflow project
That actually looks pretty good and the price is fair. Thanks!

Re: Saturday LT1 airflow project
I haven't done any programming on a LT1. I imagine it is eprom, the owner is interested in some programming but I have no experience with the LT1. Any input is welcome. Thanks, Charlie

It's flash. And it will unleash way more power than your modifcation.

Re: Saturday LT1 airflow project
Ed Wright who is on this board has a lot of experience with tuning them.
Used to be a local guy who used LT1 edit?? PCM for less, Tom @ Wongs performance is good also.
Stock TB size is plenty for what hes doing even with a cam/headwork

Re: Saturday LT1 airflow project
I actually got to talk to him a bit after work today. He was thrilled with the aluminum elbow, he knew his was rough. It has been raining since Saturday and I told him I couldn't tell if it ran any different because it would just spin in the rain. He said, "I know! The funny thing is it didn't do that before!" So all I did was radius the intake tubes where the filters attach, blend out whe welding slag where the two tubes merge, hand file the edges of the mass air sensor and port the throttle body. He is happy and wants to move to programming and headers then ported heads. We will see. Thanks, Charlie

Re: Saturday LT1 airflow project
I bet that's a worthwhile mod, Charlie. Any idea of the expected gains?
Re: Saturday LT1 airflow project
The little airfoil is worth a few hp most likely. Aluminum elbow probably flows air better than the stock corrigated elbow but conducts heat to the airstream as well. I am sure the biggest gain was removing the vacuum leaks from degraded stock elbow.

Re: Saturday LT1 airflow project
TPIS has the stock TB tricked out for like $200. How you expect to find lower prices for an elbow than the online vendors like GM parts direct I don't know what to tell you. And a Moroso CAI w/K&N filter (or copy cat) will help breathing. All this stuff is on the vendors shelf. If you can't afford that I would recommend to stay out of it and save your $$ for rent, groceries, insurance, gas, tires, etc.

Re: Saturday LT1 airflow project
Look into EEHack, it is a tuning program specifically for the LT1 computers. Includes analysis and tuning aids and is completely free.
Re: Saturday LT1 airflow project
I think you will be very lucky to see more than 3 or 4 hp at the tires, on a stock engine. Never saw more than a couple in A-B-A tests on my dyno. The factory TB is usually good for 700/750 dry CFM, depending on the flow bench.
Good bit more power in tuning the computer. 1993 was the last LT1 with a plug-in eprom.
