Hi Larry,
I assume you meant 5.3L engine. Did you happen to notice this thread showing a cutaway of those heads? http://www.speedtalk.com/forum/viewtopi ... =1&t=50362
I've had some pretty good health issues the last year or so and haven't pursued this project much further. I also anticipate some incredible hp numbers with boost and NA with these port shapes. I really want to work on a set of L86 heads with the larger ports and valves but haven't found a broken one to cut up yet.

Heat is energy, energy is horsepower...but you gotta control the heat.

Ahh, now I know where my Mr. Potato Head lips got to...
i was in a hurry .. it was either pure White or this nice Red
i went with the Red .
FYI : i retired the Red ... when more of my favorite looking Green-colored Clay sticks came in
PS ; i use GoJo Hand Cleaner ( plain smooth , no Pumice ) to smooth the Clay, and it dries within 1 minute
and as added plus , i can clean off the Clay residue off my Hands before i start typing on the Keyboard on a Flow Test

i wonder why the port flow tests are not done with the intake manifold in place as would not that would be a truer reading

Yes ... that's how i always try to Flow test ... but sometimes the Customer will not bring or want to Port his Manifold/Spacerpamotorman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 30, 2018 8:39 am i wonder why the port flow tests are not done with the intake manifold in place as would not that would be a truer reading
nor bring his Carb either to Flow test as a complete Induction System !
for SuperStockers + Comp Elim
i always make additional Flow tests with complete Induction System
Note: all other Intake Ports have red rags stuffed into them or either theres Valve Springs/Valves seated in the other Cylinders,
and there's clear tape sealing-off the other side of Intake Manifold
Also : i don't like using Clay Radius Entry that much ... i purchased a bunch of 2x6 and 2x8 and 2x10 boards to make wood Radius Entries

I was testing a VicJr.tall on my Dart 215's yesterday and I was using foam to fill other runners. I was not happy with it, I have also used duct tape to seal unused ports. There was a question about flowing with the previous firing cylinder runner open to give a more realistic model. What are you guys using to seal runners and are you flowing through another runner as well? I see Larry said he uses rags, my bench loves to eat stuff like that. Thanks, Charlie

yeah ... but i use a 3/8ths aluminum rod to ram in the red shop rags into only the Cylinder Head's Intake PortsI see Larry said he uses rags, my bench loves to eat stuff like that. Thanks, Charlie
still its potentially dangerous with Shop Rags
way safer to just install Springs/Valves on all the other non-Flow tested Cylinders
