Cam Drive

Post by BlitzA64 »

I have an issue I am trying to overcome and need some help. I have a Chevy 90* V6, Big inch, Bowtie block heads etc. This engine was built as a reverse rotation and I am changing to standard rotation. I have 2 good roller cams with it, BBC core with a turned down rear journal for a rear roller bearing which would be like hen's teeth to try to get in a standard rotation. My idea was to go with a 2 gear drive turning the cam reverse with a standard crank rotation. Easy enough but all I have seen so far are the marine helical drive 2 gear sets which I assume would be trying to push the cam out of the engine with a high amount of thrust? I know 2 gear drive cam sets have been used in racing "back in the day" were they straight cut? Is it possible to buy such a thing now days? Thanks
