Do any of the shops here do lifter refacing?

Post by Krooser »

I have a set of lifters that are virtually new but need to be refaced to use on a new camshaft. Do any of you guys do this?

Thanks.

I've done some biz with Charles @ Camcraft... and thanks Dave for that info. I was looking thru my hard drive since I have that shop info saved somewhere.

I know Egge does and does Costa Mesa R&D in CA.

Thanks to all...

How long has this place been there? 60 miles down the road from me, the town has a bar, gas station, & post office, population 54.

We do them, but mostly for our own use. If you can't find anyone else, PM me.

I'm not sure. They are probably 4 hours north of me. I've never actually been there. I just mail them my lifters.

Good link to have.
Back in the day we just used a sheet of 600 grit on a glass flat surface and ran them in a figure 8 pattern while turning the lifter, new cam old lifter, old cam new lifter, never lost a lobe but I don't know if that would work with modern aggressive lobes.

For the guys that do lifter refacing, do they grind a true radius?
My KO Lee made valve refacer has a lifter attachment but it surfaces at an angle with a slight peak in the center.

i polished them the same way but i put a piece of foam rubber under the emery paper so the polishing followed the radius on the lifter base. the best way is in a lathe and hold the emery in your hand

I agree but now that I have a lathe I don't have any flat tappet projects. :)
