Need P/S help

Post by vht »

I put a BBC in my 72 chevelle in place of the 434, bought the engine from a friend and it came with the round type P/s pump but he had used the flow valve from the rear of the pump. I took the valve from my sb pump and used it. He said the pump worked good in his car with no problem. Now after getting this running the car turns fine to the left but hard to the right. I can jack it up and it turns fine both ways. Is there any difference in these flow valves? My pump was the factory 72 pump with the narrow tank, where tis one has the bigger round like tank, don't know what yr it's off of. I'd just buy another pump if I knew what round style pump would work since that is what I have brackets for. I can't remember what was what anymore, used to keep up on this stuff, any ideas? I've researched but can't find crap.

I thought about that but it was working fine when I pulled the SB. I plugged the holes in the box to keep dirt out, wonder if a piece of something found it's way in there before I plugged them?

Each one of the pumps has multiple views. You should be able to match one of them up to what you have now.
