Piston ring install lube

What is everyone's flavour on piston rings when installing? Gonna use quick seat this time. I've used marvel mystery oil, atf, engine oil etc. All seemsed to work ok. I've been told by a few pro builders not to use oil. I understand why. Just wondering what others use. It will be on a dyno within a week of completion. It's not gonna sit. Application is a sbf ,472 cid, 15-1 comp. deal .
Just typical .043/.043.3mm . Nothing whizzy.

I use quick seat too but never had the balls to run the cylinder dry like they recommend. Still apply a very thin coat of oil in the bore. LOL

The other thing to keep in mind is all the rings still need to be oiled against their individual ring lands. I dip em' in oil just past the oil rings and then blott all the excess oil off and lightly wipe the skirts before installation.

Total seal quick seat and a few drops of oil on each ring spread with my fingers and a drop of oil on each skirt. Since ive been doing it this way i havent had any problems with rings seating

The use of the Total Seal Quick Seat on the bores works perfectly with no issues ever with rings seating.
I also use CRC Power-Lube on the bores when no QS is available and have the same results as above.
When using CRC on the bores I will spray the rings lightly during assembly after filling them but not so much that the stuff is running everywhere just enough to lightly wet the ring and wipe off the excess before installing the rings on the pistons.

This was also an alternative as per Total Seal to using their Quick Seat

Right or wrong, I just don't care what anyone else thinks. I have used a 50/50 mixture of 90W-140 hypoid gear mineral oil and ATF on the fresh cylinder walls for the past 45 years with no issues.
There may be something better but, I am not even gonna try it.

NO ... that is only for assembly lube.

There are lots of things to be used for assembly lubes in the marketplace which are not used for oil.

And most all can be detrimental to ring seal.

For 40 years and prob on a couple thousand engines, I’ve just put a few drops of engine oil spread on the rings and skirts, and another drop smeared around the top inch of the bore. It works for me.

Surgically clean bores and engine oil on the rings & skirts always works.

Total seal sells a ring assembly lube made for them by DRIVEN that seems to work good.
