sbf f4b intake

How good is a old f4b edelbrock intake manifold on a 331 cu. in. sbf with promaxx 175 cc heads, 224/232 hr cam,about 10. to 1 CR, 750 holley? I'd guess 350/375 hp. Thanks for all opinions.

It been said to flow between a performer and a RPM , Maybe the new design Performer is better. The stock intake isn't real bad. Stock its a hair better then a stock cast iron most say. With a 1 inch open spacer it worked decent back in the day on a 302. Its going to hurt power quick on a 331 with 270 cfm heads. Be big gains going with a RPM style above 5,000 rpms or so. Most will tell you victor Jr. Your cam will work with both ok. Topend for bottem end.

Big Joe said one time that he was at Edelbrock when they developed the RPM intake. Said it beat the old F4B across the board and was 20 hp better. I imagine it would really choke a stroker.

I dynoed it today, it made 418.5 hp @6000 and 408 torque @4600, with a 600 DP. I'm pretty happy with the results. It should move 65 falcon 2 drht along pretty good.

Every Saturday over the summer my GF goes around to yard sales. Talked me into going along once. One place had some SBF parts laying in the yard, including an F4B for $30. I asked the woman what she would take for it. She said it was her husband's but he wasn't there, "Give me $20, that'll teach him to go off and leave me alone". LOL It was in really good shape. I took it home, cleaned it up, sprayed on some aluminum engine paint and put it on eBay. Two people got into a bidding war on it and it sold for $136.00! The winner was a women that wanted it for her husband's early 60's Falcon/Comet (whichever) project.
