Cast iron small block chevy head,

vertical number is 080207, and horizontal number is 10445?

whats the cast-in number under the valve cover ?

080207 is probably date it was worked on and 10445 is probably work order #

It's a Vortec head, either a 906, or 062 casting!

That's what I thought too, but I don't see the saw tooth marks they usually have.

That looks like a mid 1990's 305 head. 12558059

The casting numbers under the valve cover will tell the story, date code and application...305 or 350

found the number, they are large port bowtie vortec heads, sadly i'd prefer the smaller vortec bowtie ones for my class rules but its what came with the car.

It never crossed your mind to look up that number before someone instructed you to? More times than not, you'll find more info about cast in numbers than you will numbers that have been stamped on afterwards. Those could be stamped on by anyone, anywhere, at any time.

Are you not familiar with GM castings? Or how to identify them?
