There are posters here at ST that I always look for as a marker of information value. Bigjoe1 is high on that list. Thank you Joe Sherman for the time spent tutoring.

Joe was a good guy who contributed on this forum for a long time. He made horsepower his own way, his methods worked for him. I never met him in person, but he was cool and laid back on the phone.
It's difficult to get a full understanding of a personality from forum posts.
I think some of his posts (as in the intake holds up the carb) were just him being cheeky and entertaining.
I'll miss reading his posts.

I also got caught up in looking forward on how he would respond to a certain topic. Some of them would make me smile or even laugh. Spoke with him a month ago on the phone, he was interested in a camshaft that I had posted the on the site for sale. What a gentelman to speak with. If he treated everyone like he treated them here, then we have lost another great one. Joe we Thank You!!!

Knowing the Joe's expertise, I took that phrase as :
"I tested a lot of different single plane intakes, and they do not differ enough to talk about this one in particular".
I believe his knowledge together with simplicity and the good humor is what did him so special to all gearheads.

Heartbreaking news. People like him on this forum really made it special. RIP Big Joe. Recently saw him on tv show wheeler dealers. Was nice to put a face to one of my favorite posters on speed talk.

A very unique and special person! But best of all he was a engine/drag racer guy, he was one of us! RIP

Couldn't have said it any better than that. It also deeply saddens me to recognize that we have and are still losing many of the greatest backyard garage pioneers of these things called engines that affect and influence our lives so greatly.
My deepest condolences to all his fans and loved ones. He will be missed by many.
