815hp 11.5:1 compression pump gas 438 Hemi. Outside of the 4 valve stuff, Hemi design especially the newer G3 Hemi heads are the best oem heads.

640 tq? Just be be blunt. Knock 10% off those numbers and that's what it really made. Turn the happy nob down to the correct setting, that's what it makes. If this engine even exists. Not an attack, so, don't take it that way. Just, when you see, a post like that, it's​usually fantasy land.

I would take that bet on a stock BBF rod...not as shitty as you would think. They are heavy as hell but pretty beefy. I think a well prepped set with bolts would hang in there just fine. Might be a service item at those HP levels, but back in the day everything was a service item to make good power.

Ya gotta look for the "football" head rods...that was what I read back in the day and scoured around till I could find a set. I think I still have them somewhere half polished. I'd just get a set of scat's or eagles now.

I will say, I know the hemi can make power, I am surprised no one mentioned the Hemi super Stockers, the one advantage they have over the bbc is better manifold and 2 carbs, for super stock that is. The issue with the hemi, cost. That was part of it.

I'm a die hard Ford man but I cut my teeth racing a BBC in the 80's. If we're talking pushrod motor and being honest about it, pound for pound dollar for dollar the BBC is king for sure.

On the other hand my vote for best overall engine with no concern for cost would be a side oiler 427 high riser.

So let's change the criteria: Best Engine defined as 1) Production based available over multiple years. 2) Factory block, head castings, factory crank and rods. 3) Modifications limited to Blueprinting, Porting, headers, intake and carbs, camshaft and valve train. 3) Winner is most reliable power in Oval track, Drag strip, Bonneville, etc...( something to debate and discuss ).

My vote: 426 Hemi

Considering that he's one of a select few who has run that combination I'd say the 427 is the killer.

The hemi's are awesome no question about it but they've had a ton of R&D work done on them and they run on the jagged edge. There have been a lot of cars in that class and the motors are timebombs so my vote is still 427 Ford.

I have to admit, don't know a whole lot about the 427 Ford, except we called the side oiler the track oiler.
So, let's discuss what makes the 427 Ford better than the 426 Hemi.
