Better way to answer “What will this combination make”
Go to www.performancetrends.com and download the engine simulation software EngineAnalyzer Pro. It’s free for 10 days.
With accurate specs entered, I have found it to be very accurate - 97% +-.
Also, Performane Trend has offered to give this software away free ($499.00 value) to the person who sends in the winning
score for either category in the RaceEngineChallenge to tech@RaceEngineChallenge.com
In case of a tie the first one in wins.
The rules for the contest are on the web page so go for it!

I should have said the winning score or who comes the closest.Gregory wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2018 7:39 pm Go to www.performancetrends.com and download the engine simulation software EngineAnalyzer Pro. It’s free for 10 days.

I went through the trouble of installing software since it has a 10-day trial, and entering all my specs and at the very end when you hit calculate performance, a disclaimer comes up and says due to the Demo, it is changing my short block and other specs back to a 4-Cyl setup...kind of a big difference from a 572.

I downloaded it awhile back, download the 3.9 version"pro" I think is the version. It gave me unlimited options for ten days.Greenville68 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2018 4:45 pm I went through the trouble of installing software since it has a 10-day trial, and entering all my specs and at the very end when you hit calculate performance, a disclaimer comes up and says due to the Demo, it is changing my short block and other specs back to a 4-Cyl setup...kind of a big difference from a 572.

Re: Better way to answer “What will this combination make”
I downloaded the non-pro version, just because that would probably be the one I might considering purchasing versus Pro. Maybe that's the difference, Pro vs not-Pro version. Just to clarify, I wasn't implying or trying to speak negatively, just sharing my experience...sorry if it came off a different way.
Honestly, I'll likely download the Pro version and give it another try...thanks for replying, otherwise I would have thought Pro would do the same thing.
Cheers

Looking over the table comparing all 3 versions of Engine Analyzer, I couldn't see using anything except pro. The others are just too basic, imo. Especially for what goes on at Speedtalk. There's just not enough inputs. I mean, you can't even analyze the difference between gas and E85 on basic or the mid level program.

Re: Better way to answer “What will this combination make”
My main reason was to compare a few different cams since I'm trying to decide on a new one currently, and I was kind of wanting to know about what the current one makes, then start plugging in numbers from other cams to see what my setup seemed happiest with. I am certainly learning quite a bit about what combination makes power and that more doesnt mean more HP/TQ...you really have to consider all the attributes (Duration, Lift, LSA, Centerline, Advance, Intake Open Max, etc....). I'v never used engine analytical software, so have no basis to compare with others.

Re: Better way to answer “What will this combination make”
Another thing I noticed, was that the Library examples on the Standard version had far more detail than the Pro version. For example, if I didn't know my Port Length or Efficiency % for my Dart Pro 1 heads, the Standard version lets you browse through a Library of items and once you find yours, it had a wealth of information including all the details that the software was asking for. The Pro version didn't have even half of the same information for the same item in its Library.
Also, an option on Standard to Pick this information and apply it to the form you were filling out, while I didnt see an Apply or Pick function in the Pro version. The Standard version would tell you that you couldn't do that function in Demo mode, but I didn't even see the option in the Pro mode---maybe I just missed it.

Re: Better way to answer “What will this combination make”
Be interesting to download it and see if it accurately predicts the results from our EMC engine.
Like the better flowing head getting out scored by the lesser flowing head, and more interesting would be if it accurately showed the results when I went from 2.05 valve 50* seat to 2.08 valve 45* seat with no other changes.

If you want a shortcut to what the engine wants, use the chain calculations to try several changes at once. Be prepared for a longer period of dyno pulls. I have ran over a thousand pulls in one chain session. It really shortens your time finding that one sweet combo using the program.
