Expect 730-750. Anything extra let's you know you are doing a good job. Looks like a cool build, keep us all posted.
Well, dynoed the 421 a couple weeks ago,..and your guess was very close.
By the end of the day (28-30 pulls) it was making 604-606 TQ and 745-747 HP on VP blue and on Sunoco Supreme with a little Maximal added in.
And 612-614 TQ and 750-754 HP on Q16. Nice flat power curve too.
Probably not gonna run Q16 for that much difference. And that's just fine with me.
It was pulling 1.8-1.9 inches of vacuum on the Braswell carb listed on the first post, so got a 1.9" venture x 2.125" throttle bore 4500 type carb on the way.
The 355 made it's last hook last weekend, 421 will be in for next hook, (first IAMO points pull)
Now,...I just hope it survives being hooked to a sled.
From the first post: “Heads are GMPP large port vortec bowties”. Many of the pulling class rules require iron heads.
Yes I saw that, speaking in general where there are no mandates, and for this sort of power level even a street/strip car... Still stellar results in spite of being 'handicapped' with iron.

With the exception of it sucks to port them the power difference between iron and aluminum is non existent with modern heads.
Please Note!

You start off OK with enthusiasm and a lust for life, after a few ports on the cast iron you say screw this I'm going with the alloy heads
I do my own porting so I will not touch iron...

Keith is right. Iron heads only. Any iron head for small block, so the 14* should be legal, but I bet if someoen built a serious 400+ cube 14* headed small block,...the rule book may read different for the next year since no one else is running that platform engine.
The owner of the dyno shop I use built a 14* 434 for a pulling truck class with similar head rules for small blocks.
The next year the rule book said no small blocks.
Maybe I should run with the pack and build a big block.

Do you get any weight prevision on the truck with a small block, like where you can place weight ballast?

Thought I'd up date this thread.
Got the 421 in and made it to a couple pulls. Ran it Friday at a local brush pull and it had no traction at all. A dust bowl, but the truck laid down good and didn't bounce or hop, but spun right to 9000 rpm at part throttle, so we didn't learn much.
Went to our first IAMO points pull Sat, and that track was very well prepped, Probably the best hooking track we've been to. It came on line good and spun out at 7000 rpm. He needed to be a little meaner to the clutch getting started on a track like this.
Got second place to last years points champion.
If we were first hook we'd have turned it down and re pulled in the lower gear.
Got a few things we still need to do.
Next hook in 2 weeks.

Are you guys going to all of the iamo pulls?
The plan is to go to all IAMO pulls that have Pro Street class.
But,...truck pulling isn't nice on things, so,... could miss one if something is broke.
