Valve spring locators

Valve guide boss O.D. measures .630", Inner valve spring I.D measures .700". Pocket measures 1.550" and valve spring O.D. is 1.400" Would it be wise for me to use valve spring locators? Thanks.

Remember that choice of locators may allow a change in the inner spring pre-load by the step height difference - compare brands.
