Wow, I fooled with the big Olds engines, but not the small. I don't remember the big ones having the pistons so far down.

The advantage of edel/pro-comp heads aside, The B, C etc heads on a high-ish rpm, dome piston small block Olds has always appealed to me. A bit more wow factor potential vs the 5s, 6s etc. I wonder how much hassle it would be to use a domed sbc piston?

Fwiw, I remember as a teen, gleefully realizing that the 425 piston had the same C.H. as the 350. I'm a third generation Olds guy. Dave Smith, a mentor of Bill Travato, was my hero.

I hope to have another Olds before I die.....

Just an FYI- I now have a new Mahle Motorsport piston available for 350, 400E, and 425 Olds. They're available in 4.065, 4.100 and 4.155 bore sizes, made of 4032 material and have 10cc valve reliefs. Compression distance is 1.625. I'll have H beam rods for the small blocks available on or about April 1 as well.

Thanks.

Thanks for working on those diesel castings, but sorry to hear it gives you nightmares. It's great having $75 junkyard blocks that will take a few thousand horsepower!
