You'll go way past with just the head and cam change.

I figure the Vic Jr for about 525 FWHP, then use a different head.

Is this street or race? May have some tuning to get the big 4500 carb to cruise well. A 1 7/8 or 2 inch header size would help too.

thats a lot of cam for that little compression. I would personally just use the intake you have, port match it and have some plenum work done because to run right the 2828 will require quite a bit of work. the super victor can support 700hp.

I also have a Holley 950. I may use it if the 1050 is too much. I like the 2828 over the SV. I have both. Yes there is a lot of plenum work to be done in the 2828. My goal is to make 650+ FWHP.

I like the 2828 on that cubic inch. Plenum work isnt too bad to do in my opinion. Good luck. I think youll meet your goal.

I did a 4.125 x 4.0 sbf. 225 AFR's untouched, 13.5 comp, 2828, 1050 dominator. 266-280 cam.
Has went 6.0 115@2950lbs with a bit of throttle stop on the hit for traction.

He is a serious bracket racer. It shifts on a timer but generally between 6600 and 7000rpm.

I think it needs shifted higher but he is scared. Hope to have it on the engine dyno this winter. We ran out of time to before racing started.

I Plan on playing with the belt drive and seeing if we cant calm it down a bit down low and run it up higher to get in the 5's. It has a best 60ft of 1.25.

good times for that CFM head. We have a 71 cougar backet car stock block 505 BBF 3000lbs runing 5.60s 121mph. with 400 cfm and single dom. 15-1 with a glide. Also run a rail 632 BBF A heads flow 470s 1450 dom running 4.50s.

He won't shift it higher but will pull it out of the car to rev it higher on the dyno ?

I feel Mark may be right above to point out that the heads were most limiting on your previous combo. Shafiroff says they'll send you a dyno sheet with the linked engine (427W) showing 630FWHP on a combo that is essentially your old setup with the addition of AFR220's (and open header exhaust we'll assume.) Their cam is only slightly larger than your old cam.

All these BIG single plane racing intakes (especially the 4500 carb flange versions)
have GREAT potential for use with 2 4 barrel carbs on a carb adapter.
More power, much better drive-ability, lower cost. Much more tuneability.
Big 1300-1500 cfm max capacity, much more progressive.

Yes the Vic jrs are the weak point. The SV would work just fine. I just think the 2828 will do well on this size Windsor.
