It really didn't do much. I figured swirl would go nuts but swirl was about the same as when the edge was mowed down and roof raised on that side. It flowed more after the edge was removed and roof on pushrod side was raised. Thanks, Charlie

Maybe it isn't clear in the pic of the mold but, that side of the port is filled all the way along the roof of that side till behind the valve guide. There is a step there too. Basically where many put a vane behind the guide. It doesn't appear your port does.

I don't think the goal was flowz or swirl but to displace slow areas of the port. If your gonna make a small port (185 cc ) why make all of it smaller?

Fill in the slow areas.

Randy, the shelf was clear to me and that was how it was tested. What I should have done was paid more attention to how the pinch was shaped on your port, that changes the airspeed on both sides of the port. Thanks, Charlie

Not trying to be a smartass, but what did you expect it to do? And what did it do?

Sorry, just read the rest of the posts. I have to start doing that. Also, everyone else too, lol. I see so many times where people ask a question that was clearly stated.

So,... if we were going to copy this EMC engine, but in a larger cube and hyd roller, how would we size things?
And could we make the same TQ/cube all through the same rpm range with more cubes ?

Lets say 4.030 bore by 3.75 stroke or 4.030 bore by 3.875 stroke.
Not a fan of stock 400 blocks.

Got a few blocks here that would work. Got one 4.040" bored with TQ plate. Wouldn't finish at 4.030" so since I had pistons already I used a different block and set that one aside. Also got one that will clean at 4.005".

Im probably not understanding this but you filled the wall of the port (opposite the straight wall)?
Love to see what you can do wiht something bigger your 383 vortec build was pretty impressive.

Randy didn't fill it, (No epoxy or welding) but it comes from Profiler with the roof area between the PR wall and guide support filled so it is lower on that side of the guide. The roof on the straight wall side is much higher than the PR side roof. This picture shows it pretty good (the one marked EMC). The molds show it better than looking into the ports.

I use the mold release too, but have used dry silicon spray as release agent.

The 'emc' port is an interesting shape, did you try that basic port shape with a bigger valve?
