Chuck ,
The 349ci Boss 302 will have in excess of 50 MORE ft lbs of torque than the original Boss 302. There is NO reason you can't easily run a 24lb flywheel. If it was drag race only with 10" wide slicks , a 30lb wheel would be an advantage . BTW 24 is the weight of a stock 289 flywheel IIRC.
Lighter flywheel, or not

Re: Lighter flywheel, or not
I should clarify by stating that my car limits how much tire I can put under it. 550 ft/lbs of torque will not make it easy to launch with 9" drag radials. Hoping that with all that torque the engine wont noticethe lighter flywheel at lower RPMs on the street.

Re: Lighter flywheel, or not
I run a 15 pound wheel of the street with zero issues. I bought my first 15 pound wheel in 1991 and haven't used any thing else ever since.
Re: Lighter flywheel, or not
It didn't occur to me that this 14.7 lb. flywheel might contribute to the 1500-2000RPM light cruise bucking issue I'm currently trying to tune around.
