Lsx deck height question

Post by vetteman9368 »

If someone were building a very small cube LS engine, how far can the deck be cut? It would be naturally aspirated.

Just enough to make it square with the main line.

Iron or aluminum? But either way, assuming a stock block, more than a sbc or bbc. You don't have to worry about machining away all the threads from your bolt holes. The only way to know, is get a junk block of the type you want to use, start cutting it up and drilling holes to see how much material you have to work with.

You'll start getting near the top water pump holes at 9.100".

Adapting another pump or water system, don't see why it couldn't go further.

Not an answer but why would deck it to go smaller? I mean , I understand sleeving it smaller and of course destroking but not the decking. I'm not picking at you, I am interested.

But how thin can you leave the deck before sealing issues occur?
