Cutting up tuned length header on 1 cyl

383 sbc, 67 Camino
Dougs D369 1-3/4 "equal length" headers

pass side, 1 cyl loops under the starter making access a royal pain. If this were cut out and a piece welded in place any negatives?
Headers overall happy with but at the time not many choices. Im thinking probably wont affect it at all but spent too much on this thing to give up any.
Guessing there may be 1 ft total length lopped off?

Current thinking seems to be that +/- say 5" primary length is a better choice than pretzeled pipes.

Back in the mid-sixties, Mickey Thompson was commissioned by Buick to do a header design. For simplicity he did development with 'straight out from the ports each side' primaries. Once he had the primary dimensions where he wanted, he tied them in knots as required to fit the chassis but found they were now down 30+ HP.
His solution was the minimum bends, staggered in the collectors primaries "Super Scavenger"

Bill...interesting link. Have "heard" bends could possible cost so did the rest of the exh with minimal gentle bends only. Hair splitting but who doesnt at some point.
