Wow, wish we had that kind of flat mirror river water to run in when we ran the big salt water. Nice looking ski boat there!
We slammed so hard a few times we would snap the crankshaft snout (forged Crower crank) off at about 6000+ rpms and end up with a SFI harmonic balancer dancing around in the bilge until it stopped! We had good Clevite Tri-metal bearings with decent clearances and the bearings would really take a beating in about 25 hrs of racing! It was the constant loading and unloading of the props in rough water that beat the shit out of everything on and in the boat including me! I don't miss the pain, just the fun!
