What was the MPH on the race fuel version?
ET doesn't help indicate HP. Weight vs MPH is what you're after.

Re: 434 vs 434
The reason for the difference is obvious, one makes 600hp @ 6200rpm and the other makes 600hp @ 7100rpm.

Re: 434 vs 434
The pump gas 434 is making more power.
500# of weight difference should be more than 3 mph difference. would expect 6 or 7 mph more with same power and 500# less.

That's what I keep trying to explain to him but he's stuck on his faster et number not takin into account his wieght advantage not to mention converter race fuel and carb and functional trans brake ours had crapped out I backed that pass up with a 10:18 @ 132 I'm 370# the owners only 200# he was still learning to drive the car I think with some suspension tweaks the car will run a 9 sec pass oh btw that was at 28 degrees total timing
Re: 434 vs 434
Show him this calculator. http://users.erols.com/srweiss/calchpm.htm I'm sure he has over 700hp right?

Race him side by side , not compare time slips. He will have 100' on you at the finish line. Try convincing him and yourself that you have the better car then.

Re: 434 vs 434
Both motors are fairly close. I would guess within 10 or so hp of each other . Your better heads make up for the 1.6 pt. Higher comp. For your mph you should be close to 1.40 60' and 10.04 1/4 et. For his 9.60 et he should be 138 to 139 mph thru the traps. So you both have a little tuning to do . Dan
