Hey all,

I don't have too much experience with combinations on the Z06 LS7. I'm interested in a stroke change. I'm looking at going with a 4.125 stroke and my question for the guys that have done this is how reliable is this? This motor will be naturally aspirated and used on the street with some track time.

Any pitfalls on building this engine or things to look out for? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Change the valve locks to hardened steel even if you only are going to rebuild the engine.

Valve guide issues. Just helped a friend with a C6 Z06, 30,000 miles, guides completely gone. Seems to be farely common with them.

I won't go over 4.0" stroke on a stock deck 9.240" height block that will be street driven, your piston becomes so short that it has no longevity.

Has anyone tried the stroker configuration?

the LS7 block, although 9.24 deck....has deeper sleeves
are you using a production LS7 block?

you may want to take some measurements and decide, it is a better situation then the other LS blocks. It is better "enough" I dunno
piston is still gonna be short like Nate mentioned

o Is the skirt length really that critical?
o What is the stock BDC skirt to bottom of sleeve dimension?
o Would a stock other-than-compression height 4.125" stroker piston even result in the skirt hanging out?
o I'm not a Ford guy, but regardless of the block, don't a lot of 347" SBFs have as much as 3/8" hang-out?
o Regardless, seems like a good application for Line2Line's abradable coating...

Loads of people have done it, but it doesn't make it right. Stock block I'd stick to 4.0" as someone else mentioned.

With a piston so small you'd ideally want piston squirters as well. can't have deep skirts on the pistons there.
