Dual outlet, cast-iron, "ramshorn", exhaust manifolds.
Who makes/sells these??
They have two outlet's per manifold instead of one.

Why would anyone want to use split V8 exhaust manifolds??pdq67 wrote:Who makes/sells these??

With the cost of tubular headers it seems easier rather then the nightmare of using split V8 with all the pipes to deal with.

Thought I'd have come across most of the OEM stuff, but those are new to me. Anyone else ever seen them in the iron?Immortalized on the legendary "Black Widow" drag cars.

Good. I thought it was just me.PackardV8 wrote:Thought I'd have come across most of the OEM stuff, but those are new to me. Anyone else ever seen them in the iron?Immortalized on the legendary "Black Widow" drag cars.

Fenton exhaust was aftermarket back in the day. Not factory, but still produced/replicated for nostalgia builds
Automotive Machining, cylinder head rebuilding, engine building. Can't seem to quit
Re: Dual outlet, cast-iron, "ramshorn", exhaust manifolds.
This was also back in the day when the brands who wanted to back-door race would designate aftermarket parts as "factory option" or "export" and the car would be delivered with the parts in the trunk or race teams would just be given the part numbers to order directly from the aftermarket.

Yep, my first real street racer was a 56 Belair 2 dr with '63 327"- 340 hp with Fenton cast iron "headers". 1963 was a long time ago.
Re: Dual outlet, cast-iron, "ramshorn", exhaust manifolds.
I asked about these to get a feel of using the freest-flowing cast-iron manifolds so that I might get away from the noise headers have is all.
Max. flow along with the sound dampening cast-iron naturally has. Of course headers are best as far as flow goes, imho.
I do figure that the old 2.5" outlet, "rams-horns", are about the best flowing, but won't fit a lot applications due to the side motor mount positions and center dump. Nothing notching the frame and using a front motor plate won't cure.

Perhaps buy a set of quality short tube headers, "block huggers" if you want less under hood noise an heat....The 4.0 OHV 6 in the older Cherokees have a factory short tube header that you never notice is nosier or hotter than cast iron...

Truckedup,
Good point about factory SS tube exhaust, "manifolds". Somewhere there is a great big/long exhaust manifold matrix that pretty-much lists everything that has been sold through the years for this. It is one big ad for all of them.
I will have to hunt it up.

Those are pretty neat really but if the pairing would have been done more effectively on the left side they could be turned into a Tri-Y design that might have worked pretty well compared to other things.
Re: Dual outlet, cast-iron, "ramshorn", exhaust manifolds.
Sanderson and Speedway both make cast SBC manifolds that are higher flow than stock:

And I was just about to remark that the manifolds pictured are completely not "rams horn", when I notice that a "tech editor" of HRM used the same phrase to identify a set of 1970s log manifolds.

What trucks did the under slung log cast-iron exhaust manifolds come on that kinda point down and out that I think also have a rear exit if not mistaken?
