I think those look a lot like if not the ones I saw in Orlando last year, at the PRI.

Does that mate directly to a cat, or?

Pretty much. There's about a foot of flex pipe, then into the cat.

Not entirely on topic, but fun to look at?

I talked to Matt from Dirt Pro Mufflers(Georgia) the other day, he said he built a set on a latemodel, and showed an improvement in torque. I thought he was crazy, until I read this thread. I didnt ask whay size tubes or anything, cause I didnt believe him. But apparently the Jokes on me. If you compare 1.75 round to 1.75 square, I can understand because of more volume. But Ill ask next time I talk to him.

I would think trapazoid or D-shaped headers would be the hot ticket. Trapazoid shaped runners would be shaped like a box with the bottom wider than the top. The wide side would be on the inside radius, and would change as the tube bent.

The D-shaped runners would be easier to build... (and get away with) These could be built using traditional round tube headers with flat pieces welded along the short turn floors. Just use a larger tube than what would ordinarilly be run, and plate the inside radius of all the turns. The modification would also be invisible. A person might even notice significant gains by just doing the first several inches of the header even with the floor of the port, and blending it to the full round tube.

Of course, I don't have any actual data, so take it for what it's worth... Maybe nothing! lol

The thing you gotta remember about IMCA Mod is that it is not about power unless the track is tacky. That means square headers in IMCA Mod might be a play on the "purple header" syndrome. If the winner has purple headers the next week everyone wants purple headers - obviously purple headers was the reason the winner won.
